A Boost for Education

Fifteen future teachers have received $5,000 scholarships that allow them to focus on their clinical
practice. For some, the awards spell the difference between completing their credential program and
dropping out. For others, it means not having to work full time while dealing with the rigors of student teaching.

Since 2007, Partners in Education has provided scholarships for 81 teacher candidates. The scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate dedication to community service and a commitment to education.

Accolades for Design

Architecture students Jenny Kim and Andrew Lords received honorable mention in the Live/Make
Competition held by the Cincinnati chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Their redesign of a
former factory in industrial Cincinnati impressed critic Aaron Betsky enough that he gave Kim and Lords additional kudos in Architect magazine.

Architecture students swept the awards for the Coalition for Adequate School Housing’s 2013 Student
Design Awards. Veronica Hernandez (first place), Shimin Cao (second place), and Armita Kalantari (third place) worked on their submissions as part of a studio class for third-year architecture students.
